HR . 783 Update

H.R. 783 The Thomasina E. Jordan Indian Tribes of Virginia Federal Recognition Act of 2011.

TRACK THIS BILL

The bill is currently in the first step in the legislative process. Committees deliberate, investigate, and revise the bill before they go the general debate. Govtrack states that the majority of bills and resolutions never make it out of committee.

The House Committee on Natural Resources has 48 members and Rob Whittman from Virginia sits on this committe.

2011 HR 783

A resolution was once again introduced on February 17, 2011 by James Moran.
Thomasina E. Jordan Indian Tribes of Virginia - Federal Recognition Act of 2011.

We will track this bill again to see what if any action the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs will do with it this time.

To extend Federal recogition to the Chickahominy Indian Tribe, the Chickahominy Indian Tribe-Eastern Division, the Upper Mattaponi Tribe, the Rappahannock Tribe, Inc., the Monacan Indian Nation, and the Nansemond Indian Tribe.
